hi guys. didnt see this forum about photography. im just getting into slr cameras and wanted to purchase a canon 40d. where would be a good place to purchase one? online? had bad experience buying camera online before so kind of hesitant. any input would be appreciated. also for anyone with nikon d80s, how does it compare to canons? thanks in advance

Amazon, B&H Photo, Adorama, and Dell are all competitive and very reliable. I have a 40D myself. You'll love it!

haha thanks. but yea feel really iffy about purchasing it on ebay from a company called digitalcorp? possible it might be gray market with no warranty after doing a little research. guess bestbuy it is. by the way does anyone know what exactly is the live view on the canon 40ds? i know that was one of the biggest new features on the canons but dont know really know too much about it.

It locks the mirror so you can see what you are about to shoot on the viewfinder (think how point and shoots work). I've used it when shooting tethered, but used my PC LCD instead of the rear LCD. That's about it though...

kinda leaning towards nikon d40x due to price. is there a major difference? does anyone know how the d40x compares to the nikon d80 and canon 40d? sorry for so many questions
