Default How to take photos article

We have posted an article written by Mannn, who is a member of the Toronto community. He is a freelance photographer. If you haven't read the article I would encourage everyone to take a few and read some of the ideas and ways of taking photos.

Comments and other tips are welcome. I am trying to talk Mann in to developing another photo article. Let's encourage the Mannn.

The article is located at www.s2ki.com

I got a question:

what software do you use to resize the photo.

i noticed that when i take photos at 3.2Mp, and srink it to something postable, like 640x320, or 400x300... the program i use makes the picture blurrier. vs when, i just set my camera to take staright 640x320 photos , which end up very clear 640x320.

I know there is a better program. what do you guys use, or recommend?

For PC.. there is a program called Breezer Browser, it does sharpening when shrinking and it has a built-in script that does conversion.. i.e. you select a bunch of photos... and it will generate webpage for you with index page, thumbnails, and a web sized version of you picture all in a few clicks.... there are quite a few templates to choose from as well

there are other programs that does the same thing ... but that's what i use in PC

For mac... there is iWeb or a program called Galerie

i just downloaded breezer, and there is a license thing that disables the resizing function.

i figured out that you can use the email feature of breezer to resize. and email it to your self. it works pretty well.

but does anyone have any suggestions on free software i can use.

Alright i just took these photos outside with my camera phone. (yeah it's raining here in paradise)

This first image is a crop of the original 2meg photo. (to make loading eazier) (here is the original 2 meg photo)

This is a 640x320 image resized from the original 2meg picture.

This is a 640x320 photo taken with my phone set to take 640x320 pictures.

The 620x320 image resized from the 2meg photo, still does not look as good as the image taken when the camera is set to take 640x320? These are basically the same type of differences if i used my regualar camera.

Is there any better program that will resize, and keep the fuzzy stuff from appearing. or contrary to popular belief. if the image is to be posted on the web, it's better to take the photos at a lower resolution.
