Default I need a new camera!

Hi guys,

just wondering if maybe you could help me find a good camera to buy with the features i want.

I'm looking for:

4mp +
lithium-ion rechargeable battery
video mode at least 640x480
good sound quality in videos
decently fast startup
good screen refresh rate
good point and shoot pictures
usb
ability to mount onto a tripod
no video cutoff time other than lack of memory space
be able to purchase for less than $130 (i do google shopping/ ebay/ you name it)

basically, my crappy kodak c613 camera just pissed me off. it corrupted the sd card and just has a sh*tty interface altogether. it has a "special" usb cable instead of just mini usb, it uses AA batteries, it always is picky about batteries and sometime willnot turn on/ shuts off on brand new batteries

I want something that will take decent pictures without too much fooling around.
And I also want it to take pretty smooth movies. i want to start using it to take videos of me driving, etc. so i dont want it cutting out. i want it to pick up the sound pretty good too so that i can hear that sexy f20

I was looking at the fujifilm j10 until i found out the audio quality was absolute garbage.

please somebody help me!!!

thanks in advance

It's a touch over budget, but it's a good P+S... Sony DSC H5, I used one for a while before I went DSLR. The video function is excellent and you get a 12x optical zoom. Only disadvantage, takes rechargeable AAs, but if you get very good ones (2400mAh plus), it's fine. To be honest, I found that convenient, as when the batteryies run out, you can just shove in any old alkaline batteries if you want to continue shooting, you don't have to wait til you get home to recharge or anything, just carry around a pack of energizers in the bag.

Here's one of the better pics I shot with that camera, my GF in Crete in 2007.

What do you guys think of this one? Its only a little more expensive and seems to have everything im looking for. I like sony and have a lot of their memory sticks so that works out well.

What do you think quality wise?

If you're talking about the DSC I mentioned, the image quality is apparent from that pic I posted I think, if you're talking build quality, it's Sony, it's tough as nails, but in case there was any doubt, it was tough enough to take all of my RC videos at www.youtube.com/foxy4242 and that is a harsh environment, it used to come home yellow with dust and has never become contaminated. Can't recommend it highly enough as a P+S, but I haven't used them all to know if there is one better. It's only disadvantage I would say, is that it's not very compact, but neither is it as big as a DSLR. It god good reviews, google it.

I've got a few Canons now because I like the interface, but I've had a little of everything over the years. and I'm bad about not taking my camera unless it's really small (even my G9 stays home most of the time). I've had two ELPHS (by Canon) and I really like having them around.

If you want to make up your own mind, check out stevesdigicams (.com) and click the "best cameras" link. The list is categorized by type and size, so check out what's available.

Don't let the memory stick drive your decision, SD cards are really inexpensive, and a 4GB card ($40 - 80) will hold @ 200 12MB JPEGS.

You can get a 4Gb card all day long for under $15. It will hold 300+ full res (12 Mb) photos as well.
