Default Looking for a good program for editing

hey everyone,

Just recently i began to really get into photography, went out and purchased my first DSLR (Nikon D3000).. so far i have done some shoots. But im looking for a good program, i was reading around on the forum and saw that some use Lightroom3 and other use photoshop ; and others use both.. i have some experience with photoshop due to my degree. So my point is im looking to see what people recomened in the sence of a program. and also where to buy or download the program (only problem i see with downloading programs is getting the 16 digit key code to log me in) So whatever help i may get will be greatly appreciated as i am looking forward to exploring the wonders of photography.

Thanks everyone
bryan

I use LR3. It's cheaper than Photoshop and does 95% of what PS can do but I'm sure as I/you get more experience, we would upgrade to PS but for now LR3 seems to be the most cost effective.

For full on editing, there is no replacement for photoshop. That said, if you are talking about tweaking and such, as someone who has ALL the programs (LR3, Aperture, and CaptureONE) IMHO, CaptureONE is superior to them all.

I see programs like Lightroom or Aperture as more about work-flow, for someone who shoots a lot and wants to spend less time on each image. If you want to, um, make love to individual images then Photoshop or go home.
