Wink My whereabouts...

I've been pretty hush, hush about it, but i think I might as well tell everyone what is going on. When I was in Florida a few months back, I passed out while drinking and smoking cigars only to "snap back" and be completely freaked out as to where I was and what had happened. Upon my return to NY, I went to see my doc figuring if I at least got onto a plan to lose some weight it couldn't hurt and he suggested a few routine tests before meeting with him to discuss a game plan. Well during one of the tests I started to cough (just as I did around the cigar smoke) and ended up passing out and this time stopped breathing. I had to be resuscitated and was rushed to the hospital where they admitted me and put me through a whole battery of tests from CAT scans of my brain to an angiogram of my heart. I was there the 1st time for 5 days and the second time 4 days. However no matter what tests they do, everything comes back normal or above normal (they took my blood 3x because it looked "too good"). I feel fine, and nobody should worry because neither I nor the docs have a clue as to what is wrong, so I figure why worry anyone until there is something to worry about. Right? Anyway, I didn't really want to tell anyone, but as of late I might have come across as a bit of an unreliable guy, and those who know me, know that this is not indicative of who I am nor a good representation of my character so I figured it would be best to just come out and let everyone know what has been going on.

So, please don't worry about me, I am still here, alive and kicking, and hope to be back and annoying people just as soon as I can.

Glad to have an update Norm, I was just thinking about you yesterday but wasn't around a PC to drop you a message. Admittedly, it didn't cross my mind today at work.

I think it's called a Spirogram.. It's a lung volume test where you inhale through a tube and then when instructed to, exhale forcefully all of the air in your lungs as hard as you can for as long as you can. It was when I was at the extreme exhalation portion that I started coughing and that's all I remember. Next thing I know I was in the ambulance headed to the ER and had no clue as to what was going on.

Yeah.. I told the doc it's nothing more than fat boy can't breathe disease, but he said passing out is one thing. Failure of pulmonary functions is another. I almost wish they would just find something already just so I know.

Thx everyone for their well wishes... I appreciate it

Sorry to hear what happened. I hope your health comes back to normal. one of my colleague has similar symtom. for no reason, he'd pass out for a minute or 2. his wife is a doctor and they did all sorts of test but everything came back normal.

wish you well and hope to see you come back with cleanest bill of health.

Vasovagal syncope?

Those breathing tests suck... I had to do one yearly for work and they always made me feel like I was going to hack up a lung. Glad to hear all your other sort of work looks normal, Norm! I hope that either you figure out what causes the passing out, or it never happens again (or both)!
