Default Notebook advice...

Well, as much as I despise them, Im in need of a laptop for business. It needs to be......

1)Under 3Kish
2)Good for graphics/photoediting/web design
3)I have a LOT of windows software, and dont really want to spend the money to buy all the stuff compatible with macs......
(Photoshop is $649 and Flash/Fireworks/Dreamweaver is another 1K)

Thats it...

Any advice guys?

What about try getting a laptop geared more towards gaming? Like an alienware or a higher end dell?

I hear nothing but nightmares about Dell's. A few of my friend's have dell, and all have the same problem (power related) and Dell denies everything. I dont think I want a company like that behind my computer. Unfortunately, Dell owns alienware.

Hmmm...the pricing seems pretty good...and the tablet thing would be great for my photoshop needs.....

However, isnt 1.5 or 1.6ghz a little slow now-a-days?

Dell was recently excellent for our business laptops but lately we're much more impressed with our powerful-but-heavy HP portables.

are you looking for a desktop replacement or portability. i owned an x41 tablet. it was nice, but i rarely used the tablet, so i sold it and got a normal x41. the x60's are great and well in your budget. i think lenovo is coming out with an x61 very soon though. fujitsu also makes highly rated notebooks

I will be doing 90% photo editing and 10% website development. I do NOT need this laptop for anything else. I was told for my purposes, a tablet is the way to go, but I dont want a 100% tablet. A lappy than can also be a tablet seems to be ideal for me.....

It seems their tablets only have core duos and not Core 2 duos.

Personally, I wouldn't go with anything less than a Core 2, but i'm not sure if they make tablets with these new processors? If you don't need the tablet, obviously the rest of their notebooks come with core 2s.
