Default panning

This is the second time I am panning. Any tips would be great.

The Cobra is leaking "venom"!

I am not that familiar with Canon gear. Is this 500mm/f4 ?

Thanks for looking

It looks like a 300mm f/4.0L with a teleconverter. The tripod mount section is about twice as long on the 400mm and 500mm.

Only tips for you that I can come up with is try not to shoot into the sun. The side of the cars facing you is pretty dark. Also, since you clipped off a little bit of the Cobra, maybe give yourself a little more room to crop since it's more difficult to frame a fast moving car. I learned both of these the hard way panning for the first time at an autocross last week. I won't even post up those pics here...

I have a 300f4, and the lens in the pic is a lot bigger. I'd have to say 300f2.8 with a TC.

Nice shots BTW.

Thanks. I did not know it was okay to hand hold a lens that heavy. Woludn't that puch too much stress on the camera body? I am sure It is a "1" series metal body
but Isn't it too heavy even for a metal body?
That all depends on the muscles in your arms. You'd be surprised what the lens mounts can tackle.....and that isn't just 1 Series bodies.
