Default Prints!

Hello. So I tried to make some 14x11 and 8x10 prints at costco. I cropped/ formatted my pictures incorrectly so I got chopped heads and feet. Is there a function in photoshop to automatically crop or size to the correct resolution for 14x11 or 8x10 prints? These are for Christmas so I need help ASAP!

Thanks guys!
Ericson

Im not in front of a computer w/ PS. But you would set the dpi to 300 & the crop dimensions to whatever you want. In this case 14x11 and 8x10. you should end up w/ a 40mb tiff file. Let me know if this works.

I don't know what kind of equipment they have a Costco, but I develop my prints at a place that has a do-it-yourself machine. I go with my pics uncropped and decide as I'm selecting them on the screen what size I want to print each one. The machine then does the cropping in the same aspect ratio as the picture size I selected, so there are no surprises (neither more or less area cropped) when the pictures are printed. If you crop your pics in photoshop beforehand, you might find at the time of printing that your cropping doesn't work with the picture size you'd like.

When you select the crop tool in photoshop, there is a small toolbar above the image. Select the size of the crop there, or manually enter the 11 and 14 , or 8 and 10 in the boxes, and set the resolution to 240 or 300 ppi (or even what the original was set to.)

Then when you move and size the crop tool, it will hold the aspect ratio that you entered.

Save the file with a different name than your original so you always have the original to go back to in case you want to recrop for a different purpose.
