Default what camera to use

k so i borrowed a d40 the other day from my lil brothers school. i shot some pics and i liked it. now i want one but now sure about it, i wamt something better than 10 megapixels. so any one have any suggestios on what camera i should start off with.

try a disposable, that is unless you want to be more forthcoming of your talent, ability and goals with photogrphy.

disposable nah i want to realy shoot photos and do roll shots. some of the pics i see on here inspire me to take pics but dont have the right camera for it.

Don't focus on the megapixels. 10 MP is plenty. Look for low noise at higher ISO (usually larger sensors), fast focusing, and how it feels in your hand. Those are more important the the MP count, especially to a newb. Save your money for better lenses than typical "kit lenses" too.

if New, or pickup a 30 or 40D used.

Then grab a 50 1.8 and perhaps another lens, depending on what you intend to shoot.

^ well i intend to shoot angle shots and non moving.shots for now. Then soon ill be doong roll shots, well my brother would take em and ill be driving.

Wide Shots, tight shots...? Those are the questions you need to be asking yourself. The 50 1.8 is a bargain price lens that will get you a lot for your money, but you're probably going to want a zoom for general coverage.

If you can spend the money, I believe I've heard several people here rave about this lens:

You could have that as well as the 50 1.8f for $550. Then you need a used body for $450 to stick in your price range. I'm sure a used 30D would qualify, possibly a 40D.
