Koala, the point I was trying to make is you seem to 'slander' alot of very good cars in your posts. I respect your enthusiasm for the S2000, I think they are great cars too. I have had some good seat time in an 01' (almost bought it) and loved the whole experience. I know what the S2000 is and is not capable of. I realize this is an S2000 forum and there should be a strong bias towards these great cars. I don't even own one but consider myself an enthusiast. Be realistic in your assessment of the other performance cars you experience. You never seem to mention anything enjoyable about these other cars, you simply pick on them. Remember the S2000 has it's drawbacks too. How could you not enjoy the thrust of the Z06 ?? This car is a killer at the track !!

The only car I've ever been in that felt "fast" to me was a 700 HP single turbo Supra. Now that thing had some thrust

Hey LUV2REV, do you have an E36 or E46 M3?

I bought my S in June 2003. A few months before that I drove a 97 Boxter for 600 KMS. Great car, fun car. When I test drove the S afterwards, my first reaction was that I don't need to spend all this money to get a Boxter, the S is as much as you need. From the day I test drove the S, I couldn't stop grinning each time I drove it. Both are great cars but I think the tightness of the S makes it more fun. Both are brilliant and you cannot go wrong with either. However, i wouldn't trade a S for a Boxter, insread I would go for the 911.

Koala's just telling it the way it is. The Boxster is clunky.
Not to say I don't like Porsche's products as this would definitely not be true as I'm very impressed with the 968 which my friend purchased last year to replace his clunky 944.

Have you made any modifications to it? I have one as well and have been contemplating selling it or tinkering with it...any suggestions?

BTW, I have heard that the E36 M3 and S2000 are pretty much equal on the track (at Race City anyways).

Doodlebug, it is bone stock. It will be my spouse's car when the lease comes up on her current car. With a set of good coilovers (H & R) the M3 has a definate edge, other than that they are probably near equal. The M3 weighs about 400 LBS more and has a big trunk and comfortable back seat to boot. They are fantastic cars. The M3 forum is a great resource for info. Rob Leech at Tunerworks is probably the best BMW resource in this city, He has owned many of them. I would someday like to own an E46 version, the problems they have had with the S54 motors in some of the 01', 02' and even 03' production cars kind of frightens me. When I replace the 911, it will probably be with an E46 M3 or even an 00'- 01' M5 if they ever come down to the $50,000 price range. I would love to own a Viper RT/10 at some point in my life just to experience the raw, brute power these cars have. There are too many cars I would like own, Life's tough, need more money !!

I have talked with Rob quite a few times about the E36 M3. I agree, he certainly seems to know his stuff. He has reccommended a short shift kit (this is one area where the Honda is nicer) and perhaps a cold air intake. I may go for a new exhaust first (SuperSprint) but I don't want to take away from the character of the car (mine is a sedan). Of course I don't want to put a penny into it if I sell it this spring...we'll see.
