okay....
well i basically had my car sold... i had two buyers for it
so i went and test drove a nsx... it was super sexy
but it in my opinion it wasnt better/much better then the s2k
it felt more stable in the turns a bit but the s2k felt more fun like a big go-kart... and i couldnt get over how old if felt inside... it felt like i was driving a 91 prelude or something
also found out it didnt have power steering, i didnt like that.
personally i like the s2k better! felt sooo new... more raw... more fun!!!
this is just my opinion though
im not going to sell the s2k anymore... i thought the nsx was the only car i could sell it for... maybe one day i have to go try out a 2002+ nsx... probably whole different story
I know what you mean about the cockpit, that's the only thing I don't like so much. Looks like of the same era as a 89-90ish 240sx, just old and everything sloping inside.
I had the same thought as you, maybe it's time for an NSX, but after getting in the STI I've reconsidered and immediately found restored love for my S Turns out the best thing you can do if you're having doubts about your car, is drive another one!
very true - i just got my s2k a few months back and i was torn between it and an sti.. i drove an sti after i got it just to be sure and was glad I made the choice I did
I've only driven STi's at autocross, and I've driven an S2000 on both street and autocross.
The first STi was a stock '04, and I wasn't all that impressed with the handling, braking, etc.
Then I drove a dyno-tuned '06. WOOOOOW That is the first car that has made me doubt the S2k. SOOO easy to drive -- basically did whatever I wanted, and even spun the tires at around 3k in 2nd gear coming out of a corner.. Unreal. First car I've been frightened in as a passenger. As a driver, it's just a pile of fun.
I own both a 1991 NSX and a 2005 STi. The NSX is still a great car and I personally prefer the pre 1995 cars with their fixed roofs, non-boosted (sorry, overboosted electric steering) steering, lighter chassis (my car weighs 2917 pounds and makes 271RWHP with headers, test-pipes, intake, exhaust and Autothority ECU) and firmer suspension. The cockpit layout dates back to 1989, what do you expect ? Ever sat in a 348 / 355, what do you think of their interiors ? The NSX offers up a vastly different driving experience than does the S2000, they are two very different cars built for equally different reasons, some people just don't get it unfortunately.
The STi is a great car as well, again it provides an exceptionally different driving experience than a two door, two seat roadster does. My car is set up for Solo and has coilovers, full 3" turboback exhaust (without cat), Cobb AP Stage 2 and 18X9.5 inch Kinesis K18's at all four corners. It is an absolute hoot to drive in any situation, flat out it is scary (torque is addictive) and probably makes an easy 1G on a skidpad. Best of all, it is downright practical with four doors, a decent size trunk and all weather ability. I also have a WRX decklid which provides a little stealth.
1997 355 Berlinetta. The 355 is one of my faves but the interior is certainly not ground breaking by any means, it is also tight and provides little headroom for those over 6'.

Yeah it was by no means a bash of any other car, just a big-up to the S2000
I guarantee I'll gain a better appreciation someday and move on to something else bigger and "better", but I can't guarantee that I'll ever actually get rid of the S altogether! I just love it, and for me right now I can't imagine a better fit.
I suspect the next real change might be to a Porsche. I made a commitment to myself, I have 5.5 years to get one. I said the same thing before in my life about getting an M3, but when it came time I drove an S and never thought about the M3 again! The prize may change, but the general goal won't.
I used to "get it" with the NSX and now I'm not particularly a fan of the car anymore (happened once I drove a Cayman S [drives similar, looks better, has more creature comforts and modern interior, weight is more than acceptable at 2,954 lbs, has a great sound).
It was a great car for the 90's, but it just doesn't really hold up in today's automotive world, and that's okay, it had a good run.
