Did you guys know a local player Doug Lee won a WPT no limit tournament in Vegas for $690K very recently?

He won a satellite to get the $10K buy in covered and then beat out a star studded field.

Nice to see a local player do so well. I haven't met him yet but will definitely have to congratulate him if I see him at the tables next time.

I can't believe the popularity of Texas Holdem these days! People are eating it up. I have been playing cards since University days and enjoy it during those cold winter nights with the guys!

 

Yeah, it's all the rage, lol... it's a ton of fun to play.

 

What limits do you play Koala?

I play anything from small tourney buy ins to pot limit and upto 15-30 limit games.
I've been playing for about 1.5 years and the learning curve is insane. The game itself is simple, holdem for example (leave omaha, pineapple, stud etc. for another day), but trying to master it, will probably take a long time. Each time you move up limits, the game changes, the players get better, one day you think you are great, the next day you can't even hit a 15 outer, very humbling game.

I don't know if you guys have heard of Danial Negreanu. He was the WPT player of the year last year. He went to my highschool back in Toronto. Who would have thought he would become a millionare playing hold'em

 

Oh yeah, I see him play quite a bit. He's a hell of a player... very fun to watch, too.
