break-in..
so 4 days i was working on my dads van and being that i only have a single car garage i had to leave my s2 outside over night... that night somebody tried to break into my car via the plastic rear window by completely destroying it with a blunt object, im assuming it was a bat.. once he/she made a hole large enough, he/she tried to slide in, but in the process of doing so they also broke my wind breaker. Im assuming that they didnt get in because nothing was missing and the doors were still locked. I guess my roll case didnt leave enough room for their fat ass ... so anyways im gonna get to the point of all this ranting and ask a couple questions, i already have a police report, what do i do next? ive never claimed anything nor have i ever had a problem like this, and also does anyone recommend a certain brand of alarm systems? i guess despite all this in the end atleast ill have a new rear window.. ill try to post some pics asap!

1. Phone your insurance company (phone number will be on your policy). They'll tell you what to do next.
2. Alarm systems seem to be useless -- it can hoot and holler all it wants, and some dork will ignore it anyway. Perhaps one that calls you on your cell?

That sucks to hear, i know how you feel i had a similar incident last year, somebody slashed my soft top.
My insurance was very easy to deal with, they reimbursed me for the amount the honda dealer quoted to replace the soft top (which was around $3000).
I elected to use that money to purchase a hard top. Been very happy with it, never have to worry about a similar incident occuring, and i think the car looks much better with the hard top.
My advice to you since you already filled out the police report, is go to the honda dealer and get an estimate on the repair. It helps when you have a police report and an estimate from a reputable dealership when dealing with the insurance company.
Your insurance company may elect to send an adjuster out to appraise the damage themselves, which is fine, but it doesn't hurt to have an estimate of your own from an independent party.
Anyways, good luck with getting everything fixed keep us posted on the situation.
