Default Buying "new" vehicle

Well, i am in the market for a truck right now.

Looking at the Tacoma, Ridgeline, Frontier right now. Not even going to bother with GM/ford/dodge since their mileage ratings were so low.

I have never bought a new vehicle before, i test drove the ridgeline, i loved it but the $49k pricetag(including navi, leather, sunroof etc) was $10k higher than any of the other trucks i drove.

What are the do's and donts of buying a new vehicle? Where can i get the best price? How do i pay below sticker?

I was offered in the range of $25k-$26k on trade in on my S2k, which i thought was pretty decent.

To pay below sticker on a truck... buy a domestic. It's hard to get much of a discount on most import trucks. (actually, no.. the Titan has lots of deals).

The other option is to either talk to Asif's dad at High River Honda (is he still there?) or Ian @ T&T Honda. Both of them will take care of you on the Ridgeline.

I guess it depends on what you want in a truck, but if you're purchasing (not leasing), I'd go with either the Tacoma or Ridgeline. Ridgeline would be my top pick as the Tacoma doesn't have a lot of head room (even for a tiny guy like me).

If you're leasing, you can't beat Ford or Chevy. My F-150 was a $48,000 truck and it was only $599 a month for 24 months. A comparable Ridgeline would lease out at almost twice that amount.

I am liking the ridgeline better, more cab room, navi, leather, cargo room in the bed, etc.

And im buying the vehicle, no point in leasing IMO. Im keeping it for a while!

However i saw a equally equipped ridgeline at another honda dealer, used, 33k km's for $41k which is $8k less than new. Maybe ill go check it out this week...

My brother picked up a 6 spd manual 05 Tacoma TRD last year and he absolutely loves it. I got to drive it for a week this winter while he was out of town and even I loved it (I normally hate trucks!). The engine is fantastic. Not many bells and whistles though, but even as the top-of-the-line TRD version, it wasn't anywhere near $49K (I think it was $35k?)

I would think that you could get a *loaded* Ridgeline w/ navi for $42,000 + tax if you really tried.

$41k for a used one is crazy.

No shit eh, they didnt even want to go below the sticker at all at honda.

The price was $45,600+tax, which worked out to $49k ish.

My max price is $40k ish, i want this paid off quick. Hmm, maybe ill keep looking a bit longer. I also like the shift on fly with the tacoma and auto locking rear diff.
