Default Changing out soft top

Just seeing if anyone has changed out his own soft top here. I just ordered one with a glass window since mine is fading and the material is cracking all over the place. Any tips would be appreciated. I found the write up on here but it seems to cut off.

I did mine a couple years ago. I basically just followed the DIY from the forums here. Once you get started, it's pretty evident what you have to do. Did you buy the proper sized rivets and such yet? Also, if you have an AP1 with the plastic window, you will need to get some nylon straps to make sure the frame folds properly to not contact the glass window. That stuff is pretty straight forward too, but before you start the job, just be sure you have all the parts you need.

I've been meaning to remove my soft top since I have a hard top installed, but after looking at the DIY it seems pretty involved so I have been putting it off. I may get around to doing it this summer though, looks like you have to pretty much take apart your whole interior to do it.

So, how did it go this time around? And how long did it take you?

Looks like I'll be doing this at some point in the future. My soft top cut wide open sometime last night.

I haven't had a chance to look at the car yet, but I was told that there isn't any interior damage. When I first heard, I was fully expecting my seats and stereo to be gone.

Any advice?

Just take your time, and make sure you have enough and proper sized rivets. If you are converting to glass window from plastic window, make sure you also have some nylon straps to properly modify the frame bars - otherwise there are interference issues.

Some of the DIYs talk about removing the roll hoop covers - I never did that and had no trouble. The DIYs also talk about how difficult it is to get at the plastic cover behind the rear seats. It's not half as bad as they make it out to be, unless, of course, you're a 350lbs Hawaiian shaped dude, then you might have difficulty pretzeling into position to remove the fasteners. But if you were a 350 lbs Hawaiian shaped dude, you probably wouldn't drive an S2000 either...

Get a hardtop then you never have to worry.
