Default Community changes are needed

MikeyCB is AWOL and I have removed him as the CO of this forum.

I received a pm from one of our members who offered to help moderate this forum, however the communities have CO's - community organizers, which are people who are the main contacts for the community and who are your leader. Meets, events, whatever. They are the one's who develop the community and try and bring people together. Anyone can put together a meet, but it is always nice to have a central go to person.

This community has always been a bit slow or not many active members and we have the damned winter's to put up with so everyone tends to hibernate.

Our community is wide spread and also adds to the problems of activity and participation.

The question to you folks is, do you want a moderator and keep things the way they are?

or

Find a CO or two or three to help cover the provinces, and try and develop this community?

Probably best to have a CO in each major urban centre, given that we are all so far apart.

I'd personally like to see Edmonton S2k meets on a semi regular basis. I was quite surprised last summer...we must have tried two or three times to set something up. But no one ever showed.

Then out of the blue, the 6speedonline guys set up a 'supercar' meet and like 30 odd cars showed up, lots of 911s, M3s, a few Ferraris and Lambos and such.

^ I agree, but I think this is a big challenge.

Regina/Saskatoon market is nil so the important areas are Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg.

saaboteur has volunteered to help with online issues, but due to time constraints doesn't feel he can comit to being a CO

coldrsx - Edmonton CO

Typically the communities nominate and then vote on their preferred CO's. This community is pretty quiet so I think if we can get some folks to step forward, then we can see what happens

You've touched a couple of points that contribute to inactivity on this community.

1. Winter - nothing you can do about that. However the potential CO can be creative enough to perhaps organise something like an "indoor activity" where you don't have to bring along your S2000 in order to strike a conversation with other members. Granted that some s2000 owners here park their cars in the winter, perhaps something like a winter 'indoor' meet would convince them to "un-hibernate" their much beloved car.

2. big area to cover - assigning a CO (or maybe more) for each major urban areas to cover. I.E. Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, SK, MAN - however Sask and Man. is 1/3 the size of contig. US so you may want to think about a different approach.

And finally, why don't you let bygones be bygones and convince the Legend (You know who he is) to come back and perhaps ask him to take on a different role.

or you can "un-ban" the lord vagabond and ask him to help out - just kidding.

I miss lord, where the heck is that little guy.

As far as the other option, it isn't an option.

I realize Alberta is where the majority of owners are, and I know some in Manitoba. Bringing in the big centers is the best option. Edmonton seems strong at this point.
