Default Driver Training

Does anyone know of who I can inquire about a professional driver training course. How to handle skids, teach me how to drive my car, etc etc....

This is somthing I really want to do, and would like to do it in the S2000. I have had no luck finding anyone locally or that is a pro. That figures though.

Honda Gal:

Greetings. I was thinking of taking the BMW driver training course when I had my M3 but never had the time. I think the first course is fairly elementary but the second course is more comprehensive (and more expensive). You have to take the first level training before you can go on to the next level. Eventually, you will get track time as you progress. The cars include E46 330ci and M3's! Check the www.bmw.ca website for details. afaik, this course is opened to anyone willing to pay for it (not just BMW owners).

Maybe if there is enough interest, we can get a group to go (at lower rates!)

I didn't realize the bmw course was for other cars. the only issue is I am not willing to drive a 1000 miles to do this.

Sorry what I meant was driving a long distance to attend the course. You have to remember us prairie folk are in the middle of know where land, especially saskatchewan. So the chances of a course being offered here is not likely.

I just inquired to QCMA Queen City Motosports association, and they have some options that I may be able to take advantage of locally. When the heck is spring coming ?

I went to the BMW driving school in Calgary last spring. It was $350. for 2 days of skills and track time at Race City Speedway in Cowtown. You also got 2 breakfasts / 2 lunches / and a steak dinner on Sat. night.
AND a windbreaker jacket with the school name and date on it.

The drills were in and on the oval and you drove solo. The track time was on the road course and you always had an instructor in the car (for in surance reasons).

There were 3 levels ranging from absolute newbie to race level. I started out in the middle level for Sat. and was bumped to the highest level (solo track time) on Sun.

There were about 75 cars, and I was the only non German car. Mostly BMW's but a bunch of Audi's and a few Porche's.

The course is open to any make of car. At the BBQ on Sat. night a total of 9 instructors came up to me to ask me if I wanted to ditch "my" instructor on Sun. and have them as my new instructor so they could drive my car.

I learned a HUGE amount and by the end of the course had my S2000 up to 197 kph at the end of the front straight.

I will find out more details of when it is this year and post them here.

Their site is down right now - as soon as it is back up I will let you know. I will be going back this year for sure.
Two things I didn't mention
1) it is a high performance DRIVING school - so your insurance still covers you and your car. (you are not covered at RACE schools and lapping days)
2) as a "learning" experiance I got a tax deductable receipt - ya gotta love the loopholes in the Canadian Tax system!
