All our drives start this early. Have you seen the route that some guys are taking? If we left any later than that, they will not get home at a decent hour.

I'll still be hungover from Sat. night, waking up at 9am is going to be IMPOSSIBLE
I guess it will be 2AM Denny's on Sat night to help overcome this 10am obstacle
Hint: don't go partying on a saturday nite for once

Yes, I was planning 1A to Banff, then up Mt. Norquay.
OnTheGo knows the exact route thereafter. Hopefully, he will be coming on the drive and will lead the way, as it was his idea originally. Maybe if he can post the rest of the route here for all to see?

Dylan - I so agree on the hot dog vendor, especially after I got to Tequila sometimes. Those hot dogs are UNREAL

Dave, as requested, here's the routing that the 'more driving inclined' could take.
Calgary - Canmore approx 110 km
Canmore -Hiway 93 '' 82 km
Hiway 93 -Sask. Riv. Cross '' 76 km
Hiway 11 -Rocky Mtn House '' 174 km
Rocky -Cochrane (via #22) '' 164 km
Canmore - Calgary '' 38 km

Total round trip 644 km/ 400 miles

If anyone is interested in doing this , please post before Sat eve. I have to be in Red Deer on Saturday, and I will take the trip in reverse if there are to be no adventurous souls.

Lets take Highway 1A out to Banff... lots of good twisties, my roommate hit it on his bike a few weeks ago and really recommends it. [/QUOTE]

Dylan, that IS the most popular twisty road around Calgary. Popular roads close to town means more frequent patrols as well. It's one to avoid, when out on your bike, etc. if you are in a sporting mood. Judging by your Montana post, I'd say that you have sporting moments in your life, from time to time! There is considerably less traffic this time of year once you get out onto the Hiway 93 a few clicks. Same with the Hiway 11, until you're close to Nordegg, or Rocky Mtn Hse.
