If you own an S2000, are reading this, and did not sign up:

You're a bitch. Wow. Sell your car.

Many people i've spoken to about these events are feeling alot like i do it's poorly run and over charged for the small amount of time you do get on the track. Not to mention if your friends with the event co-ordinators you get treated differently. They dont fallow there own rules.

Dont get me wrong i'll run there again next year most likely but i sure hope they smarten up.

Well I didn't want my comments to lead to Speedway being slagged. I couldn't think of a better way to get track time than the Speedway events. This event costed $140 for a full day on the track. A full day means a LOT of actual track time...you could squeeze in over 60 minutes if you tried. Compare that to 10 minutes of autocrossing (which isn't fun compared to road racing IMO) for $40ish, and it's great value. Plus with autocross, you have to spend the whole day standing outside marshalling which sucks. Or you could compare it to the Allen Berg events, which are about double the price for the same amount of track time. Actually, I don't think I could even handle more track time if they gave it to me. Most people running stockish brakes have about the right amount of time on the track, just enough to experience some fade before pitting to let their cars recuperate. You're kind of implying there's something better out there, but what is it? If there's something better, I'd like to know so I can go to those events instead. But as far as I can tell, Speedway's been the best.

You're totally right that their friends get more track time, and that can make you feel a bit small if you're new there...but that's not really the whole story. The event organizers are far more into racing than the rest of us, and sometimes, they get almost no track time themselves because they're actually working to run the event. Overpriced? Not a chance! Trust me, the Speedway guys are not making much coin from these events. They're mostly happy to break even so they can keep the races going. The way I see it, they're basically volunteering, and people like you and I are lucky that someone else is putting in the work so we can race.

If you do go next season, don't tell the organizers to, "smarten up."

Not poorly run, just not as fluent as it could be but that is also on us the driver's backs for not lining up or showing up on time. They run a solid event with good track time for your money in a well controlled environment on a super fun track.

Not only is this one of the few options in western canada for track time, it is the closest to you.

I recognize not everyone wants to try track driving and some prefer to protect their baby, that's fine, but our cars ARE CRYING TO BE TRACK DRIVEN and this is a very affordable and safe way to experience that.

I would not attend/participate if I had issues with any of the above and with track day totals approaching 20-30 now I think i can speak from experience.

I truly hope we see more of you out for 2010... and i really do not see why we cannot get an all s2000 run group or even sub-series!

cheers

ian

I had fun when I went a couple years ago. But I remember it being cheaper, like $85 for an evening, like 5pm to dusk or whatever. I'm not sure I liked the lack of large and smooth run off areas, that being my one complaint.

I would go again, but time and money, the usual suspects, are to blame. Now being a house owner and saving for our wedding next year...every penny counts! I'm hoping, though, to be out there sooner or later.
