Default FS: 2002 RSX base auto

I am fleeing the country on January 7 to work for a 6 month stint at Microsoft. Because of awesome exchange rates right now, I'd really like to buy an S2k there, but unfortunately my car isn't selling Compared to other cars in the bargain finder it's quite reasonably priced and in great shape, but I guess it's a lousy time to sell a car. So if you, or anyone you know is interested, please share the info. If I can't sell the car by Jan. 6 it goes into storage and I remain S2000less for another year or so until I graduate.

2002 base auto RSX
Satin Silver
46,000 kms
No accidents
Original owner
Factory drivetrain warranty remaining until Sept. 2007
All service records, well maintained
Stock wheels /w Nokian Hakkapellita winter tires with lots of tread left
17" Konig Holes wheels /w Falken ZIEX-512 tires, wheel locks included
Winter and summer floormats

Asking price is $19,900

If it's a dealbreaker, I'll toss in some extras to make the sale.

You can get an 02' Type S for very low 20's now, your base RSX was probably no more than $27K tax in when new being the base model without leather right ? You may be asking a little much IMO. Suprised you bought an automatic RSX as well. I also suspect many people may look at the new Civic coupe as opposed to a used RSX, the new Civic is a hot commodity in any form right now.

Crap What do you think is a fair asking price? Red Deer Honda offered me a $18,500 trade in 6 months ago, so I didn't think I was so far off.

Cars in red deer sell for quite a bit more than they do in Edmonton or Calgary. Your car is honestly probably worth $14,500 on a trade in, and $16,500 to $17,500 privately

Ok, thanks Dylan. I guess I'm just in denial about how little my car is worth after 3 years.

I'll entertain any reasonable offer, as I have 6 days remaining to either sell the car or put it into storage. Is it fair to say that my Konig wheels are adding nothing to its resale value?

Yea, aftermarket items generally devalue a car to (most) buyers.

Maybe Honda Red Deer will have a good deal on an S2000 in the spring time... I'm sure they'll still give you a fair bit for your RSX down the road. Acuras/BMW's/Mercedes/Lexus' all do really well in Red Deer on the used market since we don't have any of those dealers here... and RD Honda is generally the dealer that sells all of the higher end cars here

As of today - Dealer wholesale price on your 2002 RSX - auto is $13,900 to $15,750..... Having bought or sold over 30 cars ( private deals - non-dealer) I have found success at trying to target between dealer ( lot) prices and the Black book prices....5 to 10% over BB often ends up being a selling price.... Gold and Red book prices I have found are often too high......As you approach the $20,000 mark many buyers have a tough time finding lenders to finance a 5 year old car...your 2002 is a 5 "model year" old car....( generally - every year is equal to 20,000 Kms as is every extra 20,000 kms is equal to one year) ...except on cars like the S2000, or Type R - Good luck!
