I was looking into importing an s2k from the states, although from what Honda Canada told me, they won't warranty anything from the states.
Have you purchased warranty or anything for the car within Canada?

no I have not. Worst case scenario I would take it back to the US. Warranty still fully in effect there. Everyone's first concern about US cars is warranty. Ok, no warranty does not transfer over, but new to new you are saving over $10k. That to me is worth the risk. $10k will pay for an awful lot of repairs or possible trips back to the US for warranty work, not to mention the fact that this is a Honda we are talking about. My family has been driving Honda's for almost 30 years and we have yet to take a Honda back for any major warranty repair.

Yes with Honda. Every company is different. BMW, warranty transfers no question, just not maintenance package. GM warranty transfers as long as vehicle is 6 months old and had over 7500 miles on it. I think Chrysler transfers straight over. Nissan I know does, etc.

yeah, honda likes to stick it to you with warranty, but thats why i had no problem buying an 04 from the states, no warranty anyways. they'll still perform TSB's and recalls without cost though right?

Isn't powertrain warranty still 5 years?

yeah, they are required to carry out recalls here. They can't turn you away on that. In the states 5 yr powertrain warranty only came out in '06. Before '06 all hondas only came with 36 month, 36k mile bumper to bumper warranty. No added powertrain warranty like Canada has always had.

I really don't get why anyone worries about warranty on basically the most reliable sports car on the market right now. Sure, you could say, "WHAT IF something goes wrong..." but then again, you could say that about buying life insurance too.

The way I see it, Honda warranty is pretty much a very expensive, optional insurance program for vehicle failures. Call me crazy, but I'd rather keep my money than sink it into some warranty I'll never use.
