Default Hard Top

Group Buy on Hard Top? Is that possible?
haha

Anyway, just wondering how many of you guys have one and your experiences with it. Easy install? Aesthetically, the car is beautiful. Is the feeling any different with it on? Is the car more or less spacious?

I really want one but the $5000 price tag is a little too much for me. I be willing to buy a used one if anyone wants to give theirs up *cough* VTEXTC (winter stored S2K) haha

I don't think re-painting the hardtop will be too costly since I have a buddy working at Motive Action

I love my hard top. I think that despite the car being a roadster at heart, the top suits the lines of the car and makes it look like the coupe that never was. In fact, I get more compliments and looks with it on than not. I feel that it muffles the sound moreso than the soft top contrary to what others on the forum have stated. Whether or not it creates the illusion of more space, I don't know. I'll remain indifferent to that.

Would I sell mine? Heck no! That would take away from the "special edition" that mine is

I don't think you'll get a GB in Calgary. Your only hope is if thehardtopguy does a really good GB and you bring it in and still be under the 5 grand mark. Keep in mind that the dealer cost on these are around $3800.00 so go do your best negotiating.

I love mine too. I don't use the soft top boot in the warm months so I actually think the car looks MUCH better with the hardtop on (in winter) by comparison. I would not have bought this car if the hardtop for it did not exist. The HT gives me two cars in one as it changes the character of it entirely - makes it look much more elegant and solid. It keeps the outside noises out to a large extent because it is lined and finished on the inside. PLUS, it gives a certain measure of added security. I don't feel that it is any more spacious when it's on as opposed to just having the soft top up. The view out the back with the HT is better than with the soft top up.

The initial installation took less than 3 hours and was quite easy to do. After that, it's mostly a 2 person job of putting it on and taking it off unless you build yourself a hoist/hanger like I did.

Painting one that is not your color will most likely be about $500.00 as it has to be sanded down to remove much of the existing color or it could bleed through in time. If you want it to have the same quality as OEM, you're looking at around 3 coats color and 2 coats clear.

And no, I'm not selling mine, either.

I would love to get one as well, but the price tag is just far too high.

If I end up buying an '04 or '05 (assuming they don't kill this car), I'll probably finance one into the deal.

You wouldn't drive in the winter so it is a waste of money for you to get a hardtop. Put that money into a set of wheels or something.

Yah I ended up getting a RSX-S but the gf jacked it from me lol

Anyway, how many of you guys have driven with the rear plastic window through the winter? I can imagine that it completely fogs up and you can't see anything out the rear

I did my first winter. The HT was on back order.
The plastic window got very badly scratched up from brushing the snow off the car but it did polish up pretty nice with plastic polish and Plexus. If you are going to drive the car through the winter, I strongly suggest you clean it up real good and install the static cling window tint on the outside first. Actually, you should consider doing that now as it really protects the window all the time. It's available at Crappy Tire.
With no defroster, yes, the back window can be completely frosted over. It takes too long for the heat to build up inside so you have to use a gloved hand to "scrape" the outside of the plastic. Best to get that tint on there.

Yeah, if I had the plastic window I would definitely get a hardtop for winter.
