Default Help with history on a used Quebec car

Hi guys,

My friend is considering this 02 from QC.
It has been in an accident and had about 5K in damage to the rear.
Is this a good deal or not.
I think it has 15 000kms and is going for $28 500. What do you guys think, worth it or not or does someone know the history on this car. Thanks.

Here is the description in francais, dang french.

HONDA S2000 2002, 15,000 km, comme neuve, roues 17'', kit de jupe avant arri

Carfax of course would be your best insurance on something that has said to be in an accident. I know from looking that there have been lots of wrecked S2k's advertised in the trader online there for the past few years coming out of Quebec. More than I saw in any other province. This was back in 03.

I'd suggest get opinions on who is the best place to take an S in the vicinity of the car being looked at, then insist on a mechanical from that shop.

Also Eastern cars rust about 3x as fast as out here in the prairies. Not just body rust but salt does a helluva nasty bit on aluminium and also seizes bolts... I personally shy away from buying anything from east of Manitoba. I've just seen too many problems.

Is the S driven in the winter....that's the factor for rust. Many S's aren't driven. I moved out east from Manitoba and was horrified to see A) how much salt they put on the streets here. B) How fast cars actually rust out and how hard it is on the parts. I know many of you guys out west drive your car in the winter. If it's driven winter stay the hell away from it!
