Default I got bumped today

dunno if you guys can see anything from the pics.

I was sitting, waiting for a guy to turn, my breaks were applied, and I heard a screech, so I stepped on the gas as it was almost safe to do so. The guy behind me got hammered, and bumped into me.

The guy that caused the mess was in a mid 90's Toyota truck 4x4, he hit and I mean really hit the VW Golf (1999), which caused him to jump forward and hit me.

I felt the bump which jarred me a bit, however I think because I was proceeding ahead that it saved alot of damage. Mostly are tiny gouges, scratches. No structure damage to the bumper at all.

The poor Golf pretty much lost his backend. bumper is off, with most of his hatch caved in, and no rear taillights.

I say I got lucky. However, I will need the bumper painted.

Very lucky indeed but still most regrettable. Get it estimated and see if the other party or insurance will pay you a cash settlement. Save the money and get it fixed when winter is over (in case there is another mishap - hopefully not but you never know). Those look like they could be fixed by a chip repair place instead of getting the whole thing repainted.

Shel,

What can I say. Sh^! happens. Could have been a lot worse I suppose. Good thing you were not injured. Shop around and do some research on body shops. That silver paint isn't going to be the easiest to match, and the last thing you want is 5 coats of paint on the bumper before they get it right.
Good luck!

flyyellow, it was my mazda protege5. Good thing it was not the S... I am still kinda grumpy about the whole thing.

The pictures don't represent the actual gounges, but, there are a lot of scratches, down to the black undercoat.

I know a body man at a ford dealership that is the best IMO. He fixed an old 57 VW I had, when some turds broke into it. Very good job.

If the temp would have been alot colder, the bumper may have cracked.

First thing my dad says, did you get the plate numbers? I said no, just their lic #. I knew the make and model of the car that hit me. Just a guest but I would say, between the 3 cars there is about $8000 damage. I am thinking I would be around $500 min.

I just noticed my camera date is off.. Crap!

I wish I had pictures of the Golf, I am so glad I was not in his place.

I'm glad you are OK sweetie...

The stupid thing is, you have to claim from the guy that hit you, not the moron that started the whole thing..retarded..

But you are fine and that's all that matters!!

Shelly:

Glad to here you are OK.

This was the same thing that happened to me in my S2000 in March 02. Someone rear-ended the person behind me into me while I (and the car behind me)was stopped at the lights. If you rememeber, this was the second time I was rear-ended while sitting at the lights.

I still have to bring my car in to get the bumper painted. SGI gives me a year to get it done.

This type of accident must be a Saskatchewan thing!

HAHA Louie, I think you are right.. I have never dealt with SGI regarding an accident. Is the year time frame standard?? I think spring would be a better time to get this fixed.

You guys are right, minior damage, and no doubt will be a huge pain in the butt. This might seem sadistic, however, I wish the damage was more, so I could just get a new bumper. Just a bunch of gouges

Last night I was feeling a bit tight and sore in the neck. Fine today!!
