Default Louie's Suzuka Blue update

Here's an update on my accident- read if you're interested.

I took my car to the insurance adjuster's (SGI) who looked at the damage for about 5 minutes and basically said that there is only about $450 worth of damages. Whew!

I hope he is right!

The body shop will take the bumper off tomorrow and see what else, if anything is damaged.

The Shop foreman already said this color is very difficult to match!! (Ask Dave T about his difficulties with his paint job and he'll fill you in).

The body shop said they need it for about 3 days to do the job ???

I've only had the car for 3 weeks and I'm having a hell of a time giving it to them for even 3 hours!! never mind 3 days! It is going to be a long 3 days driving the rental car.

if the shop foreman told you the color is hard to match, i would suggest you to go to another body shop, what might end of happening is when you get the car back, the color will not match, he will say some crap like, i told you it was hard to match and thats the best we can do.
you should not of even went through insurance if the damage is under 500, you should just pay for it. this way your premiums wont go up.

Thanks for keeping us updated on your repairs. I have a 68 Rolls that had a little paint work done last year and was matched perfectly, new paint should be easier. I agree with Bayarea408, find another body shop, or get your Honda dealer to bring the paint in. Good luck, Dave

Bayarea408:

Thanks for your suggestion. The body shop I am taking it to is owned by the brother of the Honda dealership and was highly recommended by a number of independent parties. I've had work done by them on two other occasions in the past 8 years and have been sastisfied. I've had my M3 repaired there and the cosmos black metallic paint was not easy but the final result was great.

The reason why I went through my insurance is that I was rear-ended. It was the other person's fault and the insurance company said that it will not cost me anything. No increase in my premiums, no deductible to get it fixed, no surcharges on my licenses, no cost for the rental, etc.

Stay tuned on this forum to hear how it turns out. Thanks, again.

Louie, do you still have to pay your deductible? $700 or less if you have a separage package policy. I have been lucky so far to not be in a accident, and I am still unclear with the no fault insurance....
