Default need tires

i need two stock rear OEM tires

OR

i can sell my almost new stock OEM front tires that are sitting in storage in Calgary

currently my tires are <-- BALD

my preference is to get some nice wheels and tires since i am going to get my car completely repainted pretty soon...i may put on a body kit...and if S2000_rider wants to sell me his hardtop, i can paint it up at the same time

OR just paint it, sell it and get another new one

ok...so if i got new wheels and tires, should they be 17's or 18's? I do like the volks and SSR's...so many different sizes

what about just getting a set of OEM 04/05 stock 17' wheels and tires? How much would be a fair price to pay for a nearly new set? Would I have to lower my car a bit with new springs?

I do have to deal with this as my tires should be completely shot in a month two or three...i figure i could resell my used 02 wheels and nearly new 2 front tires that are in storage

i don't know much about tires and wheels and sizes

thanks for any help

I would suggest 17's for the S2000. Volk offers various wheels with the proper offsets. Dave, myself, and Ian all have CE-28n's (dave and I have ours on order from Tuner Works, and their pricing is awesome btw).

18's are mainly just for show, and the offsets are going to be more generic for sure, so the fitment wont be quite as "stock looking"

You'll probably want to lower the car afterwards, as for whatever reason aftermarket wheels really make the wheel gap noticeable on this car. I'm going to do a full coilover setup once I can afford it...

I don't think you will have to lower the car. You may have difficulty finding a used set...you can expect to pay anywhere from $2100-$2400 for them new (with centre caps).

If your planning on purchasing Volks get your order in ASAP as they take a while to show up. Mine are 17 inches.

I also have a lowered car and really like the look and ride. I can drive over speed bumps with out issues however if your planning on putting on a front end spoiler you might want to stay with the stock springs.

I think the 17"/18" wheel debate is very exaggerated. Will any of us notice a performance difference with either a 17 or 18 inch wheel on the street ? Very likely not. You can get 18" wheels for the S2000 that are lighter than our stock 16 inchers. Unless you are a diehard track junkie and rely on tenths of a second it will make no difference if you go with 18's in terms of performance. Get what ever size you like. I personally love the look of 18" wheels on the S2000. That would be the size for me.

I agree that most people wont notice the performance difference. I was more talking about offsets though. It's hard to find correct offsets on 18 inch wheels for this car.

What are the ideal F/R offsets for the S2000 ?

Well, you have to take into account the width of the rim. I will easily admit that I'm not the guy to talk to about it...
