Default New Car, Honda Rant

I've been looking for a fun car to drive in the winter. I really needed four doors and a reasonable amount of space. I was waiting for the new Civic Si sedan to hit the streets. For those of you who haven't driven one of the new Si's they really are a blast. I found out two weeks ago that the Si sedan isn't coming to Canada for the 07 model year....but it is going to the States. Man, am I pissed. What a slap in the face to Canadian Honda enthusiasts!

I found another suitable car...the 07 MazdaSpeed3. I picked mine up recently. Nice car. Very strong engine, handles well, and seats 4 people with stuff comfortably.

I'm pretty dissapointed that I had to leave the brand but maybe it is time to see how well other manufacturers compete against Honda.

...end of rant, for now!

Glad to hear you went with the Mazda... I think its a better car honestly. I'm really disappointed with my CSX... I cant even imagine how disappointed I'd have been with a regular Civic..

The Mazda3 is heads and shoulders over the Civic as far as a driver's car... Civic Si excluded from that, but like you, I wanted 4 doors...

I don't know about that! I've had both out to the track and the Civic was without doubt the better car.

Congrats on the Mazdaspeed3. I just have to ask, is the power as advertised? Some really strong numbers posted from the factory.

Jason,

I got lucky. The day I found out that I couldn't get an Si sedan I went and looked at the MazdaSpeed6. The Speed6 was ok but it wasn't exactly what I had wanted. The salesman mentioned that they had a Speed3 coming in a week or so and that it wasn't spoken for (the only one they were getting). I 'd never even heard of the Speed3 but checked things out on the internet and was intrigued enough to say I'd take it. A week and half later I picked it up. Like I said...I'm pretty fortunate.

BTW, it may be for sale next year...I have an Audi RS4 on order that should arrive by the middle of next year. I won't be able to keep both so I expect that this one will be history. I figured that I wouldn't lose too much money on the Speed3 or the Si sedan on resale...but we'll see.

It has some grunt alright. Can't use too much of the power off the line (even with the traction control) but once you get going it sure is nice to have all of those extra horses under the hood. This would be a beast with AWD.

The handling is awesome.

Are you talking about a regular Honda Civic sedan versus a Mazda3 GT Sedan?

I've raced my brother in a straight line, around corners... he has no track experience and I can't even keep up to him in my CSX, which has more power than the Civic, and a better suspension...
