Default Thank you GARY!

First off, thank you so much Gary! My car feels amazing. I was experiencing quite a rattle when taking off from a stop, and that noise has completely disappeared, so it was indeed valvetrain noise and luckily not the timing chain tensioner.

Gary took great care of my car, and was even done with it quicker than I expected!

Second... I made the mistake of stopping at the Porsche dealer to just look at a Cayman S. 20 minutes later I was taking it for a drive. What an amazing car! If I could sum up the car in as few words as possible, it drives exactly like an S2000, but on some illegal german steroids.

At first I was hugely disappointed by a lack of torque, much like the S2000... but the truth of the matter is that like the S2000, it just gets the job done. The difference with the Cayman is that you go through the first 3 gears feeling like you might be at the speed limit, only to look down and find an indicated 150 km/h on the speedo.

When the car finally came out I felt that 90,000 to 100,000 was a lot of money for what was essentially a "Boxster Coupe" but after driving one I realize it's so much more than that. You can't even mention Boxster in the same sentance, the Cayman is that much better.

I'm going to be giving this some real serious thought for the next few weeks. I really have no idea if I'll go for it. I'm still so attached to the S2000, and realistically it would be a way smarter choice to stick with the S2000. Hopefully I can talk myself out of it, if not, I need you guys to convince me I don't need to trade it in!!

How much storage would you lose with the Cayman (if any)?

Of course you can't put the top down on nice days but you were thinking of leaving your hardtop on anyways.

I wonder how it compares to the new Boxster...which many people rave about. Have you driven one?

It actually has a ton more storage space than the S2000. I was quite impressed with the amount of room for cargo. One other thing I forgot to mention was how comfortable the seats are. Very firm, but extremely comfortable.

I haven't driven the new Boxster model, but I really don't care for the looks of the Boxster, so I'd be hard pressed to even look at one, even though its cheaper

Dylan, do you think that a set (or two) of golf clubs could fit in the storage?

Cayman is amazing. It's fast, 0-60 in 5.0 secs. It's bling, PORSCHE. It's light, sub 3000lbs. It handles like a dream. Steep price but worth every penny I imagine. You know you want one. Did you notice that almost everything is an option on a Porsche? Things sure add up fast.

With all that said, I ended up with the SLK55, I couldn't resist the retractable hardtop. It's probably not on your radar but thought I throw it out there anyway.

Good luck. Just get the Porsche.

Harvey,

The first question he asked me when he popped the trunk was if I golfed. He assured me you can get two sets of clubs in there, and I believe him... its a bit wider than our trunk, and maybe just a touch deeper... and I can get two sets in the S2000 (barely).

I just don't find the Cayman attractive, particularily with the "Saleen" intake gills Porsche seems so fond of lately. And at a $100K pricepoint there are probably 20 cars I would purchase before the Cayman (Elise, 993TT, 930, Z06, Boxster S, Lotus Esprit V8, 328 GTS/GTB) are but a few that come to mind for me. I have no doubt it is a great car however.
Brady,

I still have this dream of owning a Ferarri. A big part of me makes me believe that I should wait this out as long as I possibly can, and go that route (not a new one of course).

I still love the look of a 355 coupe. One of the most beautiful cars to ever come out in my opinion.

And best sounding, particularily a 1995 (pre-OBD II) with no cat and a Tubi exhaust.

I agree with you... but I think I'd be a bit nervous buying a car that is over 10 years old, especially a Ferrari.

I don't really like the look of the 360 Modena as much, but I have a feeling that it would probably be the car I'd get in the end. F430 is probably my first pick, but they'll be well over 250,000 for years to come
