Tim, this car IS darty under certain road conditions. Mine is as was my Viper, as was my Vettes. I think it has to do with big wide tires for the given size of car. How has your tire wear been? I don't mean longevity, but rather, even-ness of wear? If the wear is symtrical from side to side on each end of the car, then the alignment is most likely pretty consistent with what they should be. This is not saying that the alignment couldn't be at one extreme of the specs or the other.
I could probably use an alignment, especially on the rear as I've noticed that one side wears slightly different than the other but because the different is so minor, I'm not going to risk getting an alignment done and having it done wrong. So far, it's working well for me, so I'm just going to leave it alone.

Hi Chris,

No I haven't had Kal Tire do any allignment settings on my S2000. I have had them do the work on by previous Civic & CRX for race set ups. For the life of me I can't remember how much it cost but I don't think it was that much. I can't imagine that it would take them anymore than 1-2 hours max.

Mike.

Dragging up an old thread to give an update. Since my S doesn't get out much, it took me a little while to get a few miles on it to let the new KG/MM springs settle out. Anyways, the S went into Bashir's shop today over at Kal Tire on 42nd Ave SE. I had the UK specs applied. It took about an hour and a half. Bashir charged me the fixed price of $69.95 + GST for the alignment. The results are as follows:

(all figures in degrees)
Requested, Before, After

Front:
Camber L: -1.0, -0.89, -0.93
Camber R: -1.0, -0.80. -1.07
Caster L: 6.45, 6.38, 6.38
Caster R: 6.45, 6.46, 6.46
Toe L: 0.00, 0.35, 0.00
Toe R: 0.00, 0.34, 0.01

Rear:
Camber L: -2.0, -2.32, -1.92
Camber R: -2.0, -2.46. -1.91
Toe L: 0.20, 0.48, 0.19
Toe R: 0.20, 0.42, 0.22

Not bad. The front left caster could have been a little closer. Seeing that nothing changed right or left makes me believe they may not have messed with it and decided it was fine to begin with. Either that or they didn't know you can adjust the caster on our cars. I never got a chance to ask. It was interesting to see the amount of toe that was introduced after I put in the springs (look at the before numbers). Tire wear was never an issue before so I'm pretty sure the toe setting were well within factory spec before the new springs. The KG/MM springs had lowered the car about 1.375 inches. Overall, I'm happy. Bashir and Kal Tire get a from me.

Also of note. Shane at Tirecraft on Macleod Trail is very highly respected in this city for his precise work. He put the Speedlines and did the alignment on Zahir Rana's Ferrari F40, He does most of the exotics in this city. I have had him do several of my cars (wish they were exotic !!) and was very impressed with the results.

Actually, I think we're talking about the same shop. This is the Kal Tire about a block east of Macleod by the city impound lot? That's good to know that Zahir trusts the shop too.

Don't know what I was thinking. I meant to state Shane at Tirecraft (4674 Macleod trail SW). Chrissa, thanks for noticing my mistake. I will edit the original reply. Regards, Brady

How about an alignment shop in Regina?

Is it more the equipment that the shop has (anything specific I should ask for) or the tech who's doing it?

I just got back from my alignment to UK specs with Kal Tire. Here are my numbers. They actually had to reduce the toe-in in the rear on my car.

Looking at your numbers, front toe-out, as it was, will make a car pretty darty. Way more negative camber than before in all 4 corners will give you more cornering ability. The back end will become a little more lively as well because it was toed way in and now its not. You're going to have to relearn your car!

Oh yeah and WS2000, it's very much both. A tech needs a good alignment rack and the best alignment rack in the world is nothing if the person operating it isn't any good.
