Windshield tape issues
Yeah I think I'm going to be banned for starting too many topics lately
I removed my windshield tape last night in preparation for my hardtop install on Wednesday... but of course a lot of glue was left behind.
I've managed to get quite a bit of it off with claybar, but I either ran out of energy last night from standing on both of my seats for 2 hours straight, or I just suck at this.
Is there anything I could go to Canadian Tire to buy that'd actually take this glue off and not destroy my paint?
TIA

That would be Z-1.
It has worked wonders for getting bugs and tar off the car.
Have you tried the old WD-40 route? This is the traditional standby for getting sticky adhesive and crap like that off paint for a long time. Then there's Goo-Gone, which is specifically designed to take adhesive off paint.
Clay bars take out contaminants from the pores of the paint. Using it for left over adhesive would be like using a thimble to transfer elephant shit out of their pen.

I'll give it another go tonight after work, but I think the key was using a shit load of goo-gone in conjunction with the clay bar. The clay was peeling back the glue fairly quickly when the goo gone had recently soaked in there.
All of this love/pain wasted on my car better pay off when she looks dead sexy with the hardtop

Update: K&N filter cleaner works good!
I have a couple of small imperfections in the paint though, I don't know if its still just some left over glue residue, or lack of clear-coat... but overall I'm pleased with the look, even though my fingers hurt like a bastard.

Since K&N filter cleaner is a solvent, you'll need to put new wax/polish on it.

Honda never meant for the paint underneath that tape to be seen, so they never spent a lot of time to make it look perfect. This has been reported in the past. Some have noted that the paint under there was absolutely horrible and had to get it re-painted. Only black cars had no tape and thus, the paint was finished like the rest of the car.

I was expecting some inperfections in the paint because of the fact that they never planned for anyone to see that area, but I think I got lucky... its just a very minor area, about the size of a nickel.

Did you just take the tape off for asthetic reasons ? Beware, once you put the hardtop on you may not want to take it off. I enjoy driving mine just as much with the hardtop on. It's truely like having two cars in one. I don't know if it's the hard top or the yellow paint, but this S gets alot more attention than my Silverstone did. It's obviously not the good looking driver as I can't be seen through the tinted windows.

I'll remove it if I ever come across a really beautiful/warm evening next summer, otherwise the convertible aspect doesn't appeal to me any more
I understand that the engine/exhaust are much more noticeable with the hardtop on... is this the case?
