Default winter is back!

Any crazy enough to drive last night? It was ice under the snow since it the pavement was wet before the heavy snowfall. Good thing I was in the Accord.

You would think that with today's technology, they would be able to see a system this big at least 24 hours in advance.

Guess not.

Now everything is wet and grubby. I am kicking myself for not having a hardtop

Drove in this stuff going to work this morning at 7:20 AM. Had a little race with a Yukon from a red light. He got the jump on me and by the middle of the intersection, he had 3/4 of a car lead on me. By the time we passed the other side of the intersection, we were even and I just continued to gain on him. By the time I got up to about 80 klicks, I had about 15 cars on him.

It's great fun down on my street... ice and snow... was drifting the station wagon around corners and laughing the whole way (don't worry, I didn't start the drift until I could see there were no other cars coming, meaning that it was only a half-turn drift, but it was drifting anyways )

I drove on the original slicks at around 4:30-5:15 pm yesterday from 32nd Ave N down Deerfoot to Mckenzie Towne with no problems...ordered a small pizza to go...and had a very carefull and scary and slow ride just to go across Deerfoot to McKenzie Lake. Had the back end fling out about 33 degrees/straight/15 degrees the other side and then straight again. I am glad that nobody was in the lane beside me or pow!. I basically drove the car as far as I could have and made it safely home.

The car is parked now and will be getting snow tires sometime this week.

BUT, the LM22's are better for bare roads, which is what we drive on most of the winter.

If you are in the market for Blizzaks, go see Frank @Blaskin&Lane in Forest Lawn OR Cary Blaskin at the North Hill Store by Sears. Tell either one a fireman & "Gary" (their book keeper) sent you to see them.

Vlad, ask Dave about where he gets his tires mounted. The bit of savings isn't worth getting your rims scratched at B&L when they mount them. Tim's and mine are scratched.
