Default Z06

Went to Shaganappi Chev today to get seal lubricant (thanks for the part #, Vlad) and sitting in the showroom was a Z06 with a very expensive option. I looked at the sticker and there it was - $18,000.00 for a supercharger!

Hmm...thats silly. Were the bearings made of platinum? As much as I like the Z06, and I do, I wouldn't dream of spending that kind of money on an option on a car that in and of itself, will depreciate by 50% or more in 4 years. There again, if you are looking at a Z06, perhaps those kinds of considerations aren't a priority. Just out of curiosity, how much was this car with the $18,000 option? I'd suggest that we're looking seriously at 911 territory, or perhaps a good used, 360.

Cheers
Asif

That'll buy superchargers for 3 of our cars.

I've read on the Vette forums that with the new C6's, the Z06's might be put on the shelf for a couple of years. This would be largely due to the bump in HP from 350 to about 385 from the normal C5 to C6 models.I don't see why anyone would put any more money into Super Charger for the C5 Z06. Too many unkown changes for the Corvette. Plus GM will be building the C6 and the new Cadillac on the same platform to save big $. The Vette is getting pretty pricey. The Z06 has more power than the standard C5 but is missing the bells and whistles. So far my brother-in-law is more than happy with his convertable C5. He says that it exceeded his expectations. He's not into the status type cars, just buys what he likes.
