Default Need to vent

A few days ago I decided to remove my fender emblems. So I started taking off the passenger side one first. I got it off and started getting the adhesive off and discovered that the car has been painted! It was done cheaply and lazily... they didn't remove the emblems when they painted it obviously because the paint under my emblem is totally different. I took it over to a body shop just to see what they said. The guy looked it over and told me that for sure the front bumper, both fenders and driver door had been painted. He said it wasn't "terrible" but they were too lazy or cheap to remove the emblems and the color isn't perfect. He pointed out that they didn't get good adhesion around the emblems as it was flaking. He told me the best thing I could do was put the emblem back on and forget about it. He went on to say they had just painted another Spa S and had to do the whole car because the process involved with the color was such that it is almost impossible to match it perfectly. Out of curiosity I asked how much they guy paid and it was $7,000! The paint isn't so bad it will fall off or anything but I'm just frustrated they my Honda isn't perfect anymore and I can't fix it. I just gotta live with knowing it doesn't match or look exactly right . Just a real downer.

You're not alone... the first time I parked next to another spa I noticed my color was a lot lighter than his. Someone more knowledgable than me looked at my car and firugred the rear left quarterpanel had been replaced, and then the whole car repainted.

I can't ever buy a hardtop or anything because the color won't match.

You can kind of tell in this pic... best one I could find though

Lol yeah I wish I could trade it on a new one . I dunno the legal obligation of a dealership, but I sure wish they would have made mention of that. They really made it seem like the car was excellent and never made any notion that the car had been painted or in a wreck.

Rio is just as bad i had to have mine painted 5 times before the paint was matched. Long story with dealership involved. FYI I have a painter that will match any paint if need be. PM me for more info.

Did you buy it from a reputable dealer? Like a Honda dealer? I bought mine and they gave me a vehicle history from Carfax or someplace....................seems like they would have to tell you if its been wrecked or not.

Skyline et al:

Bummer, but sometimes when you find out something isn't perfect anymore it's a relief.

I got it used from Peak Nissan. They never made any kind of hint that anything was ever wrong with the car... I didn't ask either so I kinda have to blame myself. I wanna paint it just because the fender totally doesn't match and the front bumber is faded and chipped at the bottom from highway driving. I just don't want to spend 7 grand (plus i don't have 7k).
