Default Random S2000 purchase question...

Just bored at work...

I've been looking rather extensvely at S2000's lately. I will most likely end up with one in the very near future. I had a random question for you all...

Lets say you found these 2 S2K's: (1) is a 2000, Mint condition, Low miles, not your favorite S color, great price...(2) is a 2003, Mint condition, low miles, your favorite S color, great price. Say the cars have very similar miles, and the MY 2000 is a bit cheaper with the fewest miles of the two. Which would you choose and why? I am KIND of in the situation and just wanted some feedback. I am sort of leaning towards the 2000 since it's the inaugural year of the S2000 in the States...is that an odd way to aid in my decision?
Thanks for any input.
Mark

The most important question you should be asking yourself is which S are you going to be most happy with. If you don't, you'll likely regret it later. The price, the miles, the color combo should all fit what you're looking for in your S. If the color combo is what you want, but the miles are too high, I'd keep looking. Don't settle... Just my .02

My thoughts,

- you also have to consider the options of the different years, the 2003 has a slightly better stereo, a glass rear window (HUGE +), and component speakers, etc.

- Color to me is really important, so I would say if the miles are similar spend the little extra and get the color you want, I did and I am extremely happy I did.

- You are spending alot of money either way so get what you want and NEVER SETTLE, you do not want to have buyer remorse. i don't and sleep well at night.

- I think you will get a much better resale value on an 2003 when compared equally, because people who love the 2.0l will go for that year over the 2000. I actually stayed away from the 2000 yr, because it was the first yr out, at least for the states.

- I would definitely go with the 2003 especially if it has low miles and is the color you want.

That is my .02

hope this helps, take care and hope you can make it to some of the events this summer.

there are differences in the two cars, engine and handling. drive the cars and determine which one is good. the 00 are torque free but higher rev limit.

-do a car fax on each (or ask for one)
-since autotrader.com, dealers are irreverent and this time of year s2k's dont hold value, there are good prices everywhere. colorado dosnt seem to be a thrifty place to buy a s2k on the average

for me:
-mileage is not a extreme issue on these cars, they are a honda.
-i never look out the back window
-any color will work

I would go with the color you want. If the cars are similar in mileage, I would definitely go with the preferred color. As mentioned by Nugget, the plastic window in the rear sucks. But if you never drive with the top up - no big deal.

Go with what your gut tells you. I missed one hell of an opportunity on a car a few years back, because i didn't do what my gut was telling me.

Good luck!

Well, you asked for it!!!!

IMHO:
Color is important. I want to FEEL GOOD when I look at my car - knowing it's the color I chose.

The glass window is important.

While neat to have the first year of anything - there are most always advantages to having one that is a couple years along in the cycle and has some of the early bugs worked out (granted, not many on the S2K).

YMMV

Good Luck!!!!

what do you plan on doing to the car? modding it? racing it? just a weekend car....

i don't think you can go wrong with either one.... the 00 will have a plastic window... no problem as long as you take care of it... mine is flawless...

get the color you want...

Yeah thats me. Thanks for all the input so far, I appreciate it. Yeah, I do agree with most of you that I need to shell out the $$ for the color I want. I will do that unless an amazing deal pops up here soon.

I'll be using the car for a weekend cruiser, and occasionally drive it to work in the summer. No major mods at all.(although I said that about the Type R too

What's your favorite color combo?

I'm going to look for a deserving home for my Silverstone over Red/Black 2000 in the Spring, but of course happy to do a deal sooner!
