Yesterday was my day in court for a 6-point, 70-in-a-40 ticket. I was prepared and ready to fight and even got there early to observe a trial prior to mine for the same thing by a Honda owner who flew in from California. It was never mentioned which model he was driving and the guy's defense was weak (he got painted with LIDAR) and the City Attorney's case was cut-and-dried. But, amazingly, his citation was tossed out. His defense was he didn't *think* his car could accelerate fast enough to reach that speed within the distance described. Heh. The judge agreed. Hell, I was all set to switch to his defense. *But, your Honor, it's just a wittle 4-banger Honda!*

Anyway, the strange thing about my case was the cop that tagged me had retired in January and the judge had granted a motion to let him testify via telephone. I figured I was screwed but just before it was my turn for the dog and pony show, the City Attorney comes over and says he doesn't feel comfortable trying a case via telephone and offers me a 2-point, defective vehicle plea bargain. I jumped on it and at sentencing I asked the court for mercy due to being recently laid off. The penalty? All fees waived and the citation suspended for 6 months. As long as I don't receive any citations of equal or greater severity during that time it will be purged. Woohoo!

So, I go home grinning wide and almost immediately get a call out of the blue from the marketing manager for a national Porsche racing team (I don't want to say which team because I don't want to jinx my chances) who asks me if I'd be interested in doing some freelance work with them (fyi, I'm a production artist/copywriter). Woohoo!

Yesterday was a good day.

i got pulled over going 132 mph on C-470. The cop hit me with wreakless driving and ingaging in a speed contest even thought I was all alone on the highway. It added up to a 20 point ticket. When I went to court in Castle Rock I told the DA that I was just testing its capabilitys and that there was nobody else on the road for me to be racing. He dropped the speed contest ticket and I got the wreckless driving down to 6 points now I only have 2 points to work with. This was two weeks after I bought my S2k
