Is that the static sheet? I remember on one drive someone had one of those and it seemed to help keep the rear plastic window from creasing and getting scratched, which would be really cool

Yup! I don't even use a window protector and the window is still in pretty good condition.

Tinted my rear plastic window Sunday afternoon and it seemed to work well. I used Gila Static-Cling Window Film from AutoZone (cost: $9.99 retail - gives you enough to do two rear windows). As I was instructed, I filled up an old spray bottle with water and 2 drops of baby shampoo. I cleaned the window thoroughly using rubbing alcohol. It was really surprised how clear the window was after doing this!

After spending about an hour cutting the window to fit for the second time, (My first attempt was a bit small) I pulled off the white protective layer and proceeded to apply it to the outside of the window. I used my Safeway card wrapped in a thin piece of cloth. Starting from the middle of the window, I worked the water to the edges along with any bubbles. It took about 10-15 minutes to get it to look smooth.

The window looked a bit foggy yesterday, but has since cleared up. Although, I'm unsure about what this will look like over time, I lowered and raised the top and it didn't seem to damage the tint. I've kept my side windows clear for now.

I did save the white protective layer for sizing the cut if anyone wants to make a copy.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Please don't throw away that template. My static sheet is a little too small.
