Basecoat recommendations
What basecoat do you guys recommend? My current solvent based choices are:
-Transtar (no mix base)
-Matrix (unknown line)
-Prospray (unknown line)
Unfortunately Dupont and PPG are only available in waterbase systems which I want to avoid being my first time painting.
Thanks!

What paint systems are those, never heard of any of them
Try and find Ohmni its a PPG system OR Sherman Whiliams system most places like color craft have.
Water base is not hard to use at all just take your time and make sure you clean the surface with a water based prep, better get used to it that's what everything will soon become.

Water base paint is actually pretty damn easy to spray, on top of that it doesn't leave an orange peal texture like cheap solvent base paints. I hear everyone raves about the ppg water base line, I'd try that, Plus normal fans are okay for this paint and helps the base flash, just turn them off when you clear, or at least turn them around.
waterbase is the same thing of the regular basecoat ( only few differences )
the only difference you care about is the drying time
the water base need air to dry faster
so a fan that you use in your house do the work !
to my shop we used to work with SHERWIN WILLIAMS without any problem , waterbase and solvent .
If you have any questions , feel free to ask

Just for anyone reading this still don't go out and spend all that money on water base stuff if your doing a job in a garage or helping it dry with a normal fan or hair dryer.
I finished up my car with PPG Envirobase and clear, the air blowers that shops use have filters and spread air over a large area not on a focused area.
It is true water base is very easy to shoot but if your going to spend that kind of money at least take a class and use a good paint booth to so your work.
Number one rule of painting, A clean car is never clean enough. dust dirt ect in the paint 99% of the time comes from your car.
