Has anyone here blacked out their headlights and if so have you lost a noticeble amount of light? also if it was a DIY, on a scale of 1-10 how hard was it?

I've searched the forums but nothin usefull that was recent.

DO NOT USE paint or ANY e-bay precut cling product or anthing costing 9.99 plus S&H

Spend the money and have a professional, using quality film, install exterior tint film with uv protectant etc.

the film covering the housing of the HID light will casue the light to bend when it hits it. A lot will still go through but the reduction in amount is noticeable. Figure a good 20-30 percent is lost

I am contemplating removing a small round hole of film material in front of each HID lens to allow more light to escape, but only if it bothers me enough, which it has not...

I've now had my car done and a friends. His is like the one you see above, yet he doesn't like it because it's not as dark as mine. Mine on the otherhand is VERY dark, and even in the day appears to be totally black.

I will say that I can't drive with just my low beams on anymore, even with the 2500k bulbs I put in hoping to boost my range. I now (well when car is running again) drive at night with both high and low beams on. When I do this I have no problems and see just as good as before almost.....say 90%.

We both had it done by my paint guy using a kind of clear coat paint. When it's too dark he can just sand it off and polish it back to OEM. I will say you won't find a blacked out headlight with the same look unless you paint it. It has a much better look and higher gloss, doesn't show up good in my pics yet, but trust me.

badazz but i don't think i'll be reducing the visibility of my front/rear lights with tint though...

 

what brand is that tint? I like your tint but wouldnt want to go any darker

i blacked out my head lights.....i took them apart spray tinted the amber defusers and gloss blacked the high beam chrome backing.....looks really good!!!! i have pretty much no highs now but my lows work jus fine no loss in light....pretty easy job jus nerve wrecking!!!
