I bought a front clip off craigslist. I didn't know what lip was on it and googled around after i bought it. I think it's a back yard special lip. What is the difference between type 1 and 2? And is there a way to tell if it's authentic?

 

I don't remember which one is which, but one of the versions is lower than the other. I do not know if there are any replicas out there. The fitment does not look good, bys lips usually fit very well. I also believe there is a badge in the center of the lip, which that one does not.

 

I was thinkn the same about the fitment and no badge. The dude had it shipped from overseas and the hood has japanese stickers on it, so im guessing it came from there. Maybe they have knock offs over there.

 

Version 1 sits lower than version 2, 30mm vs. 15mm. If you measure it you should be able to figure out which version it is. The badge is isn't on by default so they may just have not installed it, maybe there's something on the back side? Fitment could be front the weight of the clip resting on it.
If its version 1 and real I may be interested in it. Let me know.

 

Hello any update on this? Did you take it off and inspect it yet? Also if it is real i'll be willing to send my OEM Honda Ap1 lip and cash for this if it is real let me know!

 

I think one of the versions also goes into the sort of fog light holes and the other doesn't. I haven't really seen reps out there of this but still there could be some just not very well known. The fitment could be from it not being mounted to the bumper. Still nice get if it is real I think they cost something like $500+ new.

 

This. One is designed to be ran with no sideskirts, the other is designed to be used in conjunction with the BYS (or any) sideskirt. It should be pretty obvious when viewing the car from the side which version you have.
