Well thats not really an option, I almost completed shaving the engine bay by welding and adding sheet metal to shape it how I want it...I also want the blue interior with GPW exterior.
I also did a wire tuck, relocated fuse box and abs.

well it really depends on factors like how thick the paint on the car is now, but I would say no if the paint is not in bad shape a primer sealer and then base and clear. i cant remember the exact thickness but i believe you want to have less than 5mm of paint to be able to re-coat, a good body shop will check all this out for you

I sanded all teh clear off with my a da and some 220 grit before i did my last paint job it also wasn't the first time it had been repainted. I do recomend it because i have painted my motorcycle for 3 years now and it's the 4th paint job and it never dried correctly you can dig a nail into if u try it's not hard at all becuase it's too thick.
I wouldn't completly sand it down to bare metal as it will be a paint to prep it again you would need to primer sand sealer sand base mid and clear.
I would just sand off the clear coat you have on there now do a sealer sand it then your base mid and clear. it will be a lot less work and still be good.
you could just paint over what u have now only downfall will be if u ever get into an accident or you car gets keyed or something at that point it will be a major PITA to fix so i say sand down a little now and paint then if it do get into that accident u only have to sand down a little and paint again.
