FRP vs. CFRP
Hi! I just wanted to find out what you guys feel about frp and cfrp. As I understand them, carbon fiber is a stronger and more durable material (when made properly) but to put this in context, I'm looking for a hardtop, and I really like how clean the oem hardtops look—I've an '08 ap2, chicane silver, so I suppose that even if I could get an oem hardtop (which would be brilliant) I'd have to repaint it? But I guess my questions are:
1. Is the OEM hardtop a fiberglass component? (FRP?) And are rear bumpers typically made out of FRP? For any car, and not just the s2k?
2. Is the CFRP construction worth the additional cost compared to FRPs?
3. Overall, what are the pros/cons of each, and which is better/which would you recommend? From just an aesthetic standpoint, I like both looks a lot, but I think there's something so dignified and so clean JDM about a silver s2k with a silver oem hardtop, no?
4. Replica hardtops? Hardtop recommendations?
Thanks so much in advance!

This site has a wealth of knowledge, I'd spend some time doing some research. Oem hardtops are aluminum and they can be bought used from 3 to 4 thousand dollars. Forbidden usa makes a replica oem hardtop out of carbon fiber and fiberglass.
if you like the look of both the carbon and painted you might like the painted w/ carbon sides look. There are two vendors on this site that offer hard top reps that have pretty good reviews.. Rockstar Garage and Forbidden. They come in the mugen, oem and amuse style.
for what i know the real carbon r so yes indeed so light n strong, but they r so damn expensive.
most of the carbons made by seibon n several cheap vendors ,are just button fill with all fiber glass, a thin top layers of CF sheet, with clear coat on, that loooks like CF, but it's technically fake, and much much heavier than even OEM parts.
unless if he's willing to pay for dry carbon, which seibon or vendors offer them too, but r just as much as authentic JDM goodies.
