hardtop paint bubbles
got a replica fiberglass mugen top painted nfr it keeps bubbling I painted it the first time it bubbled brought it back the shop painted it again for free and still bubbles could this be the top being fiberglass? did some research but I need opinions now to see if anyone has these problems
I work for a fibreglass moulding company. The bubbles will be air voids under the gel coat or dry glass under the gel. The air expands when warm.
The bubbles with need removing or they'll keep coming back. Rob

bumping this because I developed air bubbles in my painted fiberglass lip spoiler. You mentioned locating the air bubbles and removing them from the fiberglass. How do I go about doing this? If the air bubbles are buried in the gel coat, what do I need to look for or what should I make sure the body shop does to properly prep this part next time?
I had 1 bubble on the top of my spoiler for a while, then maybe a year later, after visiting Las Vegas in 100 degree heat, developed a huge bubble in a different location. I’m hoping someone has some tips on fixing this issue so that when I get it painted again, no more air bubbles surprise me
