Give me your tips on how to eliminate headlight oxidation from sun damage?

There are no vinyls or overlay that can be put on the headlight to avoid this damage?

3M is the company, I'm sure you've hear of them. PPP stands for Paint Protection Film. They are the original "clear bra" makers.

I've had it on for 3 yrs and no fogging at all. It's not specifically approved for it because some headlights get too hot, but for ours it fine. Works great.

I have seem some pretty good utube videos on this. A high quality random orbiter sander/polisher is a must.

Do our headlights yellow after being sanded/buffed? I know some lights have a UV protectant film, and will yellow over time if you sand it off. I don't want to get into a vicious cycle, and would rather live with a foggy light than a yellow one.

You can buy UV coating. They will yellow/oxidize extrememly quickly if not treated, and depending on how much it sits outside.

Clean headlight
Wet sand with 3-4 grit levels (I used 600-800-1500-2000)
Wipe with a pre-kleeno type solution to clean all dust and kill contaminants
Spray UV coating

The UV coating I had needed to be sprayed through a paint gun (I believe it was just a rebranded clear coat), but you can probably get an aerosol based spray.

I didn't get good before pictures, but you can see my after pictures. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/108...thread-03-gpw/

yes, table yellow and fog. One or the other, or both. That's why you put 3M paint protection film on them.

call a company called start shield solutions in Ontario California. They are one of the main distributors. Have them look up my name, David Crandon. In my account they will have the code for the cut out for the headlight witch they had to do custom. They have said that it's OK for me to let people do this. Then they will send you the film. You can apply it yourself.

glad it worked for you, but that sounds to me like way way more of a hassle than putting the paint protection film on there. Plus, the paint protection film will protect against rock chips and scratches.
