Just asking if any had to modify the inside of the interior panels just behind the door opening to be able to fit them over the brackets which need to be screwed into the inside eof the car to install the hard top, attaching a photo I found online.
No, only reason for having to made any adjustments to those is if they aren't the hard top version panel. The hard top panel and soft top panels are different, hard top version has the proper cutout in place already.
Hard top panel has different brushes and opening to allow for the side catchers to affix the top.
Would this be in addition to the full panels number 12 and 15? I do not recall the brushes being a separate item from the panel itself. This is absolutely awesome information. Thank you.
I have taken a look and the brushes are held by two screws to side interior panel. I guess I can take them off while I await the new parts. You are a life saver, thank you. All I need now is that darn end cap .....

Years ago, yes it would've been easier to buy the whole panel, they're discontinued so just get 13 & 16 and swap the brush piece over.
When buying an OEM top new it came with new hardware that included all the parts, Mugen tops did as well. I'd guess the hardtop is an add-on on yours and wasn't sold with the hardware. Most who didn't buy the top new wouldn't know this and just sell the top thinking you're set. Others hack up the panel (like yours) to make it work. Super easy just to buy the correct brush pieces and go from there.
