Pealing Clear Coat
Hello All;
Has anyone had problems with their clear coat flaking off? I have a MY 2000 and the finish on the passenger side rear quarter panel is flaking off. It started about a year ago as a slight blush to the color, then intensified to a white color then flaked. I had a Del Sol that did the same. They were not subjected to abuse or chemicals and are washed and waxed regularly. I was wondering if this is a factory issue. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Has your car been repainted before? Check if your passenger side quarter panel has been refinished by a body shop. Chances are that the body shop didn't do a really good prep job if your paint is starting to peel or used a cheap clear coat that has been broken down from the sun's uv rays over time.
Stickyfingers is right... the best way to tell if your car has had body work done to it is look at all the jams between panels and doors. Honda made it easy by putting a sticker on every part of that body and on that stick the cars vin # should be there. If it was replaced, the sticker will not be there or the Vin will be from another car. If it is there but has paint overspray on it, then the panel was reused, fixed and resprayed.
