Has anyone gotten these things off without breaking them? I looked in the manual, it's basically saying to take screw out and slide them back.

These are the two painted plastic moldings (covers) that go just ahead of the deck lid, and slide under the rubber molding for the soft top.

I took the screws out, and all they do is creak and groan as i try to move them back. I need to paint both as the clear coat has gone flat on them.
