Repaints
So I have been looking for a while with limited success. Getting kind of depressing. Increasingly difficult to find a low mileage, unmolested S2000 that hasn't had the fast and furious treatment. I have found a couple lately that meet the quality standards but aren't an attractive color. One in particular (2007) is NFR but has an orange tinge too it. Don't know if that is just that year or if has been in the sun too much.
So three questions:
1) Does the NFR have a tinge of orange in some years?
2) How much would it decrease the value of an S2000 to have it fully repainted?
3) Any guesses for price on a high-quality repaint?
Thanks

NFR didn't change from 2000 through final production in 2009, so it shouldn't have an orange tint. Could be faded or a repaint.
If done properly NFR repainted with NFR won't decrease the value of the car.
Changing colors usually reduces the value of the car.
A good quality repaint is going to be around $5000.

And, since you live in SoCal, I can tell you were NOT to go if you PM me.
During my quest for an S2000 I determined that color choice was going to be a "nice to have" item and not a requirement. Like you I wanted as close to original as possible.
My priority list called for an '06 or later to get Drive-by-wire and stability assist (absolute #1 priority), low mileage (under 50,000 miles), and an original car. Original cars have not been repainted.
Again this was a priority list and I might have bought a re-paint but certainly for not as much money as an original car. To me a repaint detracts from the value of the car. Owners always apologize for it. These cars are not yet old enough that a good repaint is part of a restoration process. But an excellent original paint '57 Thunderbird will probably fetch more money than a respray.
Nearly half the S2000s are some shade of Silver anyway and that's my car after it met the higher priority criteria.
