Default Silverstone side strakes

It seems every place has Silverstone (NH630M) Side Strakes out of stock, with HandA even stating outright that they've been discontinued.

Anybody have an inside line on a place?

If not, it looks like I'll have to order another color and have a body shop re-paint them.

Or buy the ebay replica version which come unpainted, and only cost like $80. For something mounted so low out of sight, if its not a show car, maybe that is good enough...

I've always wondered what these do. What's their function?

Reality: Appearances.

Theoretically, they redirect the air around the rear tire and aid a bit in downforce. Unless you're high-speed on the track, the day-to-day effects are minimal.

This is why I stashed away an extra set of side strakes ... they fall off pretty easily too.

AERO, but not needed for street use. They do add sex appeal though and that is why I bought some for my white car.

I finally gave up looking for Silverstone and ordered a Chicane Silver set.

Putting the strake up against the car makes the strake Chicane silver look darker. It's subtle, though.

I haven't installed them, yet.

Anyway, in a month or two I'm going to a paint shop to do minor garage rash correction and to correct 10 years of other people doing "parallel parking by braille" on the nose. I'll ask their opinion to see if it's worth re-spraying the Chicane strakes to Silverstone. I won't be too disappointed if they don't think it is worth it, though. The difference really does look rather subtle.
