Default Slighty darker silver wheels on AP1?

Here is a link to what I posted in the Gallery. Wheels are done in Silverstone Metallic! https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...&f=12&t=773258

Go to a Paint shop and have fun looking at the paint chips books.

Well I know I could do that, but not the kind of response I was looking for. There are ALOT of different shades of silver and it would be hard to just pick one out of all of them in a book. Im just curious if anyone has done their wheels in a slightly darker silver than the oem color.

I love the look of the Ap1 wheel design, it's my favourite but my wheels had that typical crappy aged Honda clearcoat look. So I sent my rims out for powdercoating and I chose a silver colour that turned out slightly darker. I would relate it to some of the wheel colours you see on the new Honda Civic Si. My wheels look really unique, yet have some metal flake in them to give them a bit of pop in the sunlight. They came out slightly darker than I thought because the clearcoat on powder coated paint seems to change the colour slightly from the colour swatch samples you see in advance. But after I got them the colour looked really good. If you are looking at powdercoating I might be able to get the colour name for you, if you are going regular paint it won't match up. I don't have any pics of the wheels yet, just got them cleaned as my Honda dealer put tons of grease on the wheels installing new rubber on the rims. I hope to get some pics this week.

I took a dremmel tool to the curb rash on the rims and got them perfectly smooth, after powdercoating they have a new showroom look to them. Very happy with the end result.

Sounds awesome man! I do my own powdercoating but have never done a rim due to not having a big enough oven haha! Im really glad you posted. I do get how colors get a little darker with the clear coat powder. If you could get me the color of the powder you used that would be awesome, and get some pics! There is a guy here in town that would probably give me a good deal on doing them. Im still thinking about experimenting with a few paint colors first then do powercoating if im positive what color I want. Post some pics when you get them!

okay I'll snap some pics this week. I'll call the powder guy I used and get the name for you too, you should be able to source it in the US as it likely comes from US suppliers. The powdercoat looks to be really durable. I had my factory rims sandblasted and then powdercoated, the entire rim was done except the hub mating surface, which is the right way to do it. The guy said something about de-gassing the metal rims before he painted them, not sure what that meant but he said it helps promote a stronger paint on the rims.

Well I got some paint on the way. Will probably be a week until I get it. Hopefully it will be nicer out so I can get them done. You guys will just have to wait and see what color it is. Hopefully they turn out good!

that paint supplier link you posted had some cool colours, that black chrome colour looked sweet, would make for some nice rims, lots of cool choice available though. I also like gold rims but they can get old kinda fast.
