Default Spun out in rain and hit a mailbox

It was a little cold and rainy last night. I took my car out for a spin after installing Bilstein PSS, came around the corner too quick (~25mph), lost control and hit a mailbox. Here are some pics of the damage.

How hard do you guys think it would be to fix this? I'm more worried about the damage at the bottom more than the dents in the door.

Any advice is appreciated!

Did you offer to fix/replace the mailbox you took out..?

And my GF needed her front fender replaced and the paint blended with the hood/bumper which was ~$1400 at a body shop. I have a hard time believing this damage is only 1k. I would guess closer to $2k at a decent body shop.

I wouldn't worry too much about the door, you can even find used doors in same color for a buck or two. But the quarter panel seems to have been hit badly. You can even see paint chipped off where the spot weld is. If its still straight, it shouldn't cost too much to repair it.

Take it to a few body shops and see what they say. As long as its not much higher then your insurance deductible, I wouldn't involve your insurance.

Yes, I offered and fixed the mailbox myself.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about the door. The 1/4 panel "looks" straight to me except for the dent, but I'll take it to my buddy's body shop tomorrow and see. I'll pay out of pocket this time because I don't want my rates to go higher. Sucks, but gotta live and learn.

That's not bad at all. I knocked my rocker in about 6 inches, I'm fixing it myself, as for the door, you could find one on ebay or craigslist for $400 highest. If you want a cheap fix, they can just throw bondo over the dent and paint it. It's under $1k if you find a decent body shop that isn't gonna rip you off.

Don't trip too much. I spun out at an event and damaged my front bumper, fender, door, rear quarter, trunk, rear fender, head and tail light. The door was the cheapest part, about $100 for a good used one. Homie hooked me up with a fender, got a new front and rear bumper, used head and tail light. The body shop charged me less than $2000 to have the dent pulled, fender straightened, and the entire car sprayed as a 2-stage paint job.

So this is what I was thinking. I used to work as an estimtor. I dont write a lot of estimates anymore because my sfotware will calucualte most items for me now. But this is rough idea

The Estimate from shop woud be something like:
R&I Belt Molding
R&I Door Handle
R&I Interior Panel to Remove Handle
4/5 Hr repair time on door
2/3 hr repair time on rear of rocker panel
R&I Wheel liner
Conservative Est- $500 - $750

Paint:
Tint Color W/ In-Panel Blend for door
Tint color then stop repair at body line
Conservative Est- $250 - $500

This is a very conservative estimate with minimal work. $750 - $1250
To get it dont with appropraite blends and tinting at good shop $1500 - $2200

If you do get it repaired let me know. Im curious to see how off i am.
This is repair cost. Depending on parts pricing, skinning the door may be more cost effective. But if you replace the skin of the door you would deffinately want to blend the adjacent panels to make sure the paints match. This would up the cost of skinning the door.
